Here’s how Top Leaders Gain Faster Results, Deeper Relationships, and a Stronger Bottom Line.

  • Among all the attributes of the greatest leaders of our time, one stands above the rest: They are all highly trusted. You can have a compelling vision, rock-solid strategy, excellent communication skills, innovative insight, and a skilled team, but if people don’t trust you, you will never get the results you want. Leaders who inspire trust garner better output, morale, retention, innovation, loyalty, and revenue, while mistrust fosters scepticism, frustration, low productivity, lost sales, and turnover. Trust affects a leader’s impact and the company’s bottom line more than any other single thing. One of the biggest mistakes a leader can make is to assume that others trust him simply by virtue of his title. Trust is not a benefit that comes packaged with the nameplate on your door. It must be earned, and it takes time. As a leader, you are trusted only to the degree that people believe in your ability, consistency, integrity, and commitment to deliver. The good news is that you can earn trust over time, by building and maintaining eight key strengths:
  • CLARITY: People trust the clear and mistrust or distrust the ambiguous. Be clear about your mission, purpose, expectations, and daily activities. When a leader is clear about expectations, she will likely get what she wants. When we are clear about priorities on a daily basis, we become productive and effective.
  • COMPASSION: People put faith in those who care beyond themselves. Think beyond yourself, and never underestimate the power of sincerely caring about another person. People are often sceptical about whether someone really has their best interests in mind. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is not just an old saying. It is a bottom-line truth. Follow it, and you will build trust.
  • CHARACTER: People notice those who do what is right ahead of what is easy. Leaders who have built this pillar consistently do what needs to be done when it needs to be done, whether they feet like doing it or not. It is the work of life to do what is right rather than what is easy.
  • CONTRIBUTION: Few things build trust quicker than actual results. At the end of the day, people need to see outcomes. You can have compassion and character, but without the results you promised, people won’t trust you. Be a contributor who delivers real results.
  • COMPETENCY: People have confidence in those who stay fresh, relevant, and capable. The humble and teachable person keeps learning new ways of doing things and stays current on ideas and trends. According to one study, the key competency of a successful new MBA is not a specific skill but rather the ability to learn amid chaos. Arrogance and a “been there done that” attitude prevent you from growing, and they compromise others’ confidence in you. There is always more to learn, so make a habit of reading, learning, and listening to fresh information.
  • CONNECTION: People want to follow, buy from, and be around friends—and having friends is all about building connections. Trust is all about relationships, and relationships are Page 8 best built by establishing genuine connection. Ask questions, listen, and above all, show gratitude—it’s the primary trait of truly talented connectors. Grateful people are not entitled, they do not complain, and they do not gossip. Develop the trait of gratitude, and you will be a magnet.
  • COMMITMENT: People believe in those who stand through adversity. People trusted Jesus, General Patton, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mohandas Gandhi, and George Washington because they saw commitment and sacrifice for the greater good. Commitment builds trust.
  • CONSISTENCY: In every area of life, it’s the little things—done consistently— that make the big difference. If I am overweight, it is because I have eaten too many calories over time, not because I ate too much yesterday. It is the same in business. The little things done consistently make for a higher level of trust and better results. The great leaders consistently do the small but most important things first. They make that call and write that thank you note. Do the little things, consistently. Trust can’t be built overnight. It requires time, effort, diligence, and character. Inspiring trust is not slick or easy to fake. Trust is like a forest. It takes a long time to grow and can burn down with a just touch of carelessness. But if you focus on these eight components with every action, you will foster trusted relationships—whether with employees, customers, suppliers, or fellow leaders—that will drive results and the bottom line.

Have you really given up everything for Christ?  Is He really LORD?Are you operating your business based on biblical principles out of a sense of religious duty or a recognition that your business is God’s business?  What are you holding back from the Lord?

 How do we glorify God

“So when they brought their boat to land, they forsook all and followed Him.”  —  Luke 5:11

There is a difference between doing things for God and letting God do things through you, seeing Him as Saviour and seeing Him as Lord.

In chapter five of the book of Luke, Jesus gets into the boat of Peter the fisherman to preach the Gospel.  Once he completes His message, Jesus, recognising that Peter is a business man and that he and his partner caught nothing all night, turns to Peter and gives him some fishing tips.  Little did Peter know that the advice Jesus offered would produce probably the greatest one-time fishing harvest that Peter and his business partners have ever experienced. Moved by this experience, Peter comes to realise that the Man he is dealing with is the Lord, and he makes Him his Savior.  Upon making Him his Savior, Jesus speaks destiny into Peter’s life: “From now on I will make you a fisher of man.”  Peter and his partner, without hesitation, forsake all and follow Jesus.  They make Him their Lord.

Have you had a marketplace experience with Jesus?  Beyond His role as the Savior of your soul, have you made Him the Lord of your life and business?

Can I suggest one simple change: your Board Room becomes the Prayer Room and the chair at the head of the table JESUS chair. Whenever you can’t agree on the way froward then STOP and go to the Chairman.

In Luke 18:18, a rich young ruler comes to Jesus with a request for what he must do to obtain eternal life.  Jesus’ response is that the man must obey the commandments, and the rich young ruler responds saying that he has done so from his youth.  Then, Jesus instructs him to forsake all and follow him, but the rich young ruler goes away sad, because he feels he has too much to lose.

What was the difference between the rich young ruler and Peter and his partner?  Why were Peter and his partner so quick to forsake all, while the rich young ruler was disheartened by the very mention of loss.

Peter and his Partner

 Rich Young Ruler

Recognized Jesus as Savior & Lord

 Only saw him as Savior

 Desired the Righteousness of Christ

Were not attached to their  possessions

 Attached to his  possessions

Saw their possessions as really the  Lord’s

 Saw possessions as his

Focused on the salvation of men

 Focused on acquiring  things

 Received the crown of Glory

 Lost his soul

It is easy for us to think that once we put on the kingdom business “hat” and take a Biblical Entrepreneurship class, we are suddenly right with God and can receive His blessing.  Not so, God is looking for us to follow Him and surrender our all for His sake.  He wants us to let Him take the wheel of our life and business.  Like the rich young ruler, you may have done all that is required to receive eternal life according to the law, since you committed your life and business to Him. But have you truly surrendered your life and business to Him?  Evaluate yourself and your business today and ask the Lord to show you those areas of your life that you still need to forsake for Him.

My prayer for you today is that God will give you the grace to forsake all and follow Him through your life and business, making Him not just your Lord but your Savior as well.

Is Five-Fold Leadership Relevant for Business Today?

This is a breakthrough insight which ever Christian business person needs to grasp and apply.

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers…” Ephesians 4:11

Paul records that Jesus (“…He Himself…”) anoints some believers with supernatural leadership gifts. Indeed, these roles are critical to the functioning of any faith group. But are they relevant outside the four walls of the church? Could they be just as relevant in the marketplace as they are in the pews?

4 Key Words

The four key words in the next verse give us insight into answering this question.

“…for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:12

Equipping (katartismos) is defined as making fit, preparing, training, perfecting, making fully qualified for service.

Saints (hagios) means those that believe, the morally blameless & consecrated ones.

Work (ergon) means the business, labour, employment, that which anyone is occupied, effort or occupation.

Edifying (oikodome) means the act of building up, to promote growth in Christian wisdom, piety, happiness, and holiness.

This scripture does not say Jesus gave five-fold ministry to only serve the local church, but to equip all the saints for work. And since 98% of His saint’s work in the marketplace, it is reasonable if not mandatory that these saints be equipped and released to operate in their gifts in the marketplace – not just inside the church.

Isn’t the marketplace the primary place for saints to do the work of the ministry?Already Active

Most secular organisations already apply five-fold leadership without realising its Biblical roots and foundation. These companies leverage such leadership gifts as:

  • founders and entrepreneurs, visionaries, pioneers who push into new territories (Apostles)
  • strategists, planner and evaluators, sees opportunities and marketplace needs (Prophets)
  • sales, public relations, marketing, promoters who spread the good news & inspire the team to grow (Evangelists)
  • local managers, team builders, culture-shapers, human resource and work environment managers (Pastors)
  • trainers, teachers, explainers, and coaches who integrate truth into practical actions (Teachers)

My Leadership Gifts Revelation

Recently it dawned on me that over the past 30 years, I was walking in my leadership gift roles — and did not realise it. And much of that time, I was not actively walking with the Lord.

Yes, I was saved and with salvation, Jesus gave me two primary leadership gifts: being able to peak around the corner and see what was coming down the road in talent, leadership, and business culture (Apostle) along with the skill, desire, and ability to study and explain these truths in simple, profound ways (Teacher).

Now I realise (and have been ordained) that I have been gifted by Jesus with a special anointing in two areas where He can supernaturally lift my work far beyond my natural leadership abilities, resulting in far greater marketplace and kingdom impact than before.

Stepping into Your Supernatural Leadership Gifts

As I wrote in my previous blog, supernatural leadership is simply taking the leap into allowing the Holy Spirit and the gifts of Jesus to be fully functioning in your professional/business life.

Over the next five posts, I will introduce you to each of the five-fold leadership gifts. As we explore these leadership roles together, my prayer is that Jesus will reveal to you through the Holy Spirit’s witness (Romans 8:16) your one or two primary leadership gifts. (We’ll save discussion on all the other spiritual gifts for later).

As you discover your unique gift(s), you will then realize the key channels through which Jesus desires to release His leadership power through you (Ephesians 3:20) to manifest Himself in transforming your marketplace for His glory.

Anybody out there ready to discover and unleash your supernatural leadership gifts?

Prophecy: The Lord Is Opening Doors for Kingdom-Minded Businesses

This prophecy is by Dr. Steve Greene. He is the publisher and executive vice president–Media Group, Charisma Media

While writing my Greenelines blog early this morning, I stopped to answer an email and was nudged to open a new writing window and began to type this fresh word for several readers today. I don’t know for whom, but I believe the specificity of the word will call you out. Your spirit will bear witness.

“As you grow closer to Me, I will draw nearer to your business. If I am Lord of your life, I will be Lord of your business. I long for your business to honour Me as I rain down upon it.

How do we glorify God

The increase that I will give you is coming. This season of growth will be like none other you have experienced. New doors will open to a new people. You will think new thoughts and do a fresh work. Others have not done this work. Behold! I give you a new path. You’ve been walking the path I intended for others. This new path is your path.

Know that I will be with you as you move with the gifts and specific knowledge I have given to you.

Do not look to the left or to the right, but along the path I will direct. Set your eyes upon Me, and I will do what I have promised.

Do not try to be like others or join others along their paths. This is a new thing that I intend for you. The path is blessed. Your gifts will be multiplied as you lead others along this way. This is a path of business that I have birthed in you. I will bless others through you as you travel this path. Fear not, for I am saying to you on this day, in this way, that I have prepared hearts and minds to receive you and this new work.

My words will not surprise you today. Lead the people I have given to you with this fresh anointing. I am in this work. I will bless many through you. This is the word of the Lord.”

There is no doubt God will bless you as you draw nearer to Him, so if you spend time in His word and in prayer you can expect improvement not only in your business but your life as a whole.

Reasons to Leap from Natural to Supernatural Leadership

Here are the key differences with three compelling reasons to take the leap into supernatural leadership and build a Kingdom business.

Too Much Natural Leadership?

Natural adj: formulated by human reason alone rather than revelation; occurring in conformity with the ordinary course of nature; not marvellous or supernatural; operating in the physical world as opposed to the spiritual world

Supernatural adj: unable to be explained by explained by laws of nature; of or relating to an order or existence beyond the visible, observable universe & especially of or relating to God

It is so easy – even tempting – to lead from the natural man. We live in a natural body, work in a natural work surrounded by millions of others who only attempt to leverage and grow their natural skills. So, we fall prey to succumbing to the trap of natural leadership – just like so many others.

You may be leaning too much on your natural leadership if you currently struggle with:

  • what to do next
  • how to get there—wherever “there” is
  • slugging through the status quo of doing the same things over and over
  • desiring different, better results but never seeming to breakthrough
  • which leadership guru/expert to follow
  • solving the same problems over and over
  • motivating yourself or your team
  • fear of losing your business, home, or lifestyle

If any of these describe you, then I suggest it is time for you take the leap into supernatural leadership.

3 Supernatural Reasons to Take the Leap

Here are three big reasons to take the leap.

#1: From Education to Revelation

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

Natural leadership focuses on the wisdom of man. From secular business books, magazines, and endless conferences and blogs, it is easy to over-educate our natural heads with worldly “wisdom.”

Supernatural leadership focuses not upon any person’s persuasive words and spiritual-sounding insights, but on the infallible, perfect wisdom of God.

#2: From Miss-led to Spirit-led

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14

As I detail in my book OUA, believers in business can be easily miss-led. From being head-led, expert-led, opportunity-led, money-led and more, natural leaders (like I was for decades) are easily misled by the latest and greatest stuff.

Supernatural leaders purpose in their hearts to only and always be led by the Holy Spirit who will never mislead you. He will always guide you into all truth and help you position yourself and your business for — yes — supernatural growth and impact.

#4: Human powered to God powered

“I can of Myself do nothing.” John 5:30

“Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.” John 8:28

“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Even Jesus could not operate as a natural leader. Think about that for a minute! Jesus gave up his heavenly throne and power (Philippians 2:5-8) to operate as a flesh man supernaturally led and employed by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus walked as human who gave God permission to supercharge his natural gifts & to release more supernatural leadership gifts. So can you. Imagine the potential impact!

Get Ready to Take the Leap

Let’s revisit the natural leadership list from above. If you were to take the leap into supernatural leadership, would God through His Spirit tell you how to:

  • know what to do next?
  • get “there” and exactly where “there” is?
  • breakthrough your status quo?
  • achieve different, better results?
  • follow the one perfect leadership guru/expert (Jesus)?
  • solve every problem once and for all?
  • motivate yourself & your team?
  • overcome your fear of losing your business, home, or lifestyle?

Of course, He would – and so much more!

As we take this journey together, my focus will be to guide and equip you on how to take the leap into a God-directed, Jesus-gifted, Holy Spirit-empowered supernatural future for yourself and your business.

Who’s ready to take the leap?
